Eileen A. Pederson, 83, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Mondovi.
She was born February 23, 1934 in Weyerhauser, WI to Ann (Michalovic) and Joseph Bata. Eileen later moved to Chicago and attended Gage Park High School and later earned a certificate in Comptometer Usage.
She worked at the post office in Midlothian, IL. While living in Illinois, she was an active member of the Midlothian VFW Auxiliary Post 2580, where she was president from 1966-67, and 1973-74. As a VFW member, she worked hard for veterans by raising money for relief funds and was also known for her amazing poppy displays, which won many awards. Overall, Eileen was a 60+ year member of the organization.
In 1975, she was transferred to the Chippewa Falls Post Office, where she was the first female worker among 41 men. She retired from there in 1989.
Being a talented and creative person, Eileen opened Eileen’s Paintin’ Place Ceramics Shop on Cliff Street in Chippewa Falls. She was very artistic, and loved to paint and draw. She enjoyed working with flowers and making corsages. She enjoyed painting Christmas scenes on window displays and also made the ELKS Club awards for their members.
Eileen will be remembered for her vibrant smile that lit up each room she entered. She had a glow about her and was the first one to wave to and welcome new friends.
In 1983, Eileen married the love of her life, Clyde Pederson. They enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin together. They truly enjoyed each other and being together, which was evident to anyone who spent time with them. Clyde preceded her in death in 2016.
