Elaine J. Halverson, 76, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at home surrounded by her family and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

She was born June 17, 1938 in South Fork/Hawkins area, the youngest of thirteen children born to Mary (Foremski) and John Sokolowski.

Elaine married Louis Halverson on October 12, 1957 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ingram. They farmed in the Hawkins area until moving to Ladysmith in 1970. In 1972 they moved to Altoona and in 1983 they moved to Chippewa Falls, when they bought the Sun Beam Tavern which they owned and operated until their retirement in 1998.

Elaine was truly proud of her family and loved being a loving mom, grandma and great-grandma. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family at the Chippewa Family Restaurant, where she'd always see friends and sometimes make new ones. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music. She will be forever missed.

Survivors include a son, Gregory (Brenda) Halverson of Altoona; four daughters, Charlene Wagus, Pam (Bob) Gay, Michele (Toby) Bogen, Sheri Halverson, all of Chippewa Falls; five sisters, Helen, Josie, Lottie, Jennie, and Mary; grandchildren, Dustin (Jen), Andre, Mary, Henri, Zachary and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bentley, Holly, Avea, Talon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis on August 14, 2006; two sisters, Ann and Sophie; five brothers, Tony, Harry, Eddie, Wally, and Peter; and a son-in-law, Jeffrey Wagus.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Mark Pierce of Notre Dame Parish, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Elaine's family would like to extend a special thank you to the 2nd and 7th floor staff of Sacred Heart Hospital; to Dr. Schifeling and Dr. Thompson; and to St. Joseph's Hospice for their exceptional care.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Elaine J. Halverson, 76, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette was held on Saturday, January 17 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce of Notre Dame Parish, officiated with readings given by nephew, Perry Kuznar and daughter, Charlene Wagus. During the service, Perry also shared memories of Elaine.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls and casket bearers were Toby Bogen, Bob Gay, Dustin Peterson, Craig Boos, Perry Kuznar, and Zachary Halverson. Those serving as honorary casket bearers were Henri and Andre Leavesseeur, and Hunter Halverson.
