Elaine D. Miller

Elaine Diane Miller, 78, of Chippewa Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 7, 1945, in Eau Claire, to Victor and Erna (Banks) Steinke. Elaine helped with all the family farm responsibilities in Mondovi throughout high school. On October 14, 1967, Elaine married Don Miller at Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. They were married for 56 years and are current members of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Many people will remember Elaine as always having snacks or a full meal ready if she knew you would be stopping by. She was always happiest when she was feeding friends and family no matter what the occasion. She thoroughly enjoyed the many, many years of fishing, camping and spending winters in Lake Panasoffkee, FL with her husband. They made many lifelong friends, and their children often came for vacations every winter to visit. The things that brought her the most pleasure and happiness in life were her husband, children and grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Don; children, Turi (Brian) McIlquham of Bloomer, Tami (Curt) Severson of Chippewa Falls, and Troy (Jackie) Miller of Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren, Talley Halvorson (Megan McDonald) and Tarrin Halvorson, Taylor and Carsen Severson, Trenten (Lindsey) and Brennen Miller, Scott (Hannah) and Tyler McIlquham; sister, Marlene Nelson; brothers-in-law, Larry Sobyak and Jim Miller; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Alan) Larson; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Erna Steinke; brother, LaVern Steinke; sisters, Lois Sobyak and Kathie Steinke; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Steinke and Mary Noble; brothers-in-law, Albert Rud, Duane Miller, David Miller, and Duane Noble; and one niece, Deborah Noble.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the friends and relatives who sent cards, messaged, and visited during Elaine’s courageous health battles. She was one of the strongest people on this planet and fought her hardest to stay with us as long as possible. Special thanks to the staff at Family Tree Nutritional Health and Wellness in Eau Claire who gave our family the gift of extra precious time and memories that will last us a lifetime.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, 733 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 12 p.m. at the church. Pastor Daniel Wonderly will be officiating. The interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie, Wisconsin.
