Elaine Schmidt

Elaine S. Schmidt, 90, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 due to congestive heart failure. She is now watching over her family as she enjoys her eternal life in Heaven with God. The family wishes to express their thanks and sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Wissota Place and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.

Elaine was born February 1, 1927 in rural Fall Creek to Albert and Frieda (Zielsdorf) Welke.

She married William Schmidt on January 1, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Elaine was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls where she spent much time worshipping and serving the Lord. Elaine worked as a CNA for many years, sold Avon, and was a cook for Sunnyside School. She was also very involved in the Homemaker’s and 4-H clubs.

Elaine joins many dear family members in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, John Schmidt; two grandsons, Luke Schmidt and William “Bill” Miller; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Owen Barrett; brothers, Paul, Clarence, David and Donald Welke; and a sister, Dorothy Krenz.

She is survived by her children: daughters, Sandra (William) Miller, Janice (Ronald) Barrett, son, Scott (Theresina) Schmidt; daughter-in-law, Dawn Schmidt; sister, Mavis Solie; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Looker, June Schmidt, and Joyce Schmidt; grandchildren, Cheri (Mark) Bowe, Wendi Miller, Erich Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt (Nicki Fleming), Matthew Barrett (Jami Soller), Mark Barrett (Stephanie Peterson), Michael Barrett (Kristin Brendel), Theresa (Justin) Barkley, Amber Barnard, Amanda Barnard, and Tony Barnard; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jared, Breanna, Julia, Madelaine, Autumn, Ava, Aurora, Orion, Luna, Lynx, Olivia, Griffon, Sydney, Karma, Berlin, Treyson and Bradley; and great-great-granddaughter, Lila. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 27 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Charles Yunghans officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
