Eldred Raymond Peterson, 89, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

He was born July 22, 1925 in Milwaukee to Selma Jorgine (Olson) and Carl Emmett Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He attended school in Milwaukee at Grant Street School, Walker Junior High School and South Division High School. Hegraduated fromSt. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, attended the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, and graduated from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1951.

On May 17, 1958, Eldred married Ruth Elvern Johnson at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, Wisconsin. He served as a Lutheran Pastorfrom 1951 to 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Dale Lee Peterson of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Esther Christine (Robert) Johnson of Chippewa Falls; three granddaughters, Anna Christine (David) Mitchell of Nashville, Tennessee, Julia Lorraine Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Clara Louise Johnson of Chippewa Falls; and a great-granddaughter, Eloise Grace Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 19 at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be on Monday, October 20 at 10:30 a.m.at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Sunday at the Chippewa Manor Chapel.

Eldredresponded to God's call on his life by faithfully serving others and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and in Christ-like living. He will be remembered and cherished as a deeply loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." - Philippians 1:21

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Eldred Raymond Peterson, 89, of Chippewa Falls was held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 19 at the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Chippewa Manor. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided organist, Marilyn Brace and the Blessings Gospel Trio. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
