Elizabeth (Liz) Heller, 89, of Chippewa Falls passed awayTuesday, August 25, 2015 after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was under the attentive care of St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice.
Mrs. Heller was born Elizabeth Mary Ricci on July 31, 1926, to Felix and Frances (Schullo) Ricci in Comstock, WI. She grew up on the family farm in Comstock Township, rural Barron, attended Comstock Elementary School, and was a 1945 graduate of Comstock High School.
Liz married Raymond Heller on Feb. 13, 1947 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Eau Claire.
Liz and Ray lived in Alaska while Ray was in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Later they lived in Duluth, Minnesota, for many years before moving to Chippewa Falls in 1990. Ray passed away Jan. 1, 2013.
Liz enjoyed gardening, dancing, bowling, feeding the birds, and Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Packers.
Survivors include son, Michael (Susan) Heller of Red Wing, MN; two daughters, Joanne Singer of Duluth, MN and Barbara (Richard) Johnson of Champlin, MN; six grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Heller, Amy (Kong) Hwong, Todd (Jennifer) Jacobson, Stacy (Paul) Hegstrom II, Marie (Bryan) Strawser, and Adam Johnson; ten great-grandchildren, Adah Heller, Kobe Hwong, Chloe Hwong, Paul Hegstrom III, Abby Hegstrom, Eric Hegstrom, Benjamin Jacobson, Nicholas Jacobson, Meaghan Strawser, and Norah Strawser.
Besides her husband, Ray, Liz was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Vera Klieber, Mary Frane, Ella Fieck, Flora DeAngela and Nellie Olson-Weinand, and four brothers, Jim, Bill, Bennie, and Nickie Ricci.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls withFr. Justin Kizewski of Holy Ghost Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery, town of Seymour, Eau Claire County.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice, Chippewa Falls, would be appreciated.
AFTERSERVICE:
A memorial service for Elizabeth (Liz) Heller, 89, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 29 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Fr. Justin Kizewski of Holy Ghost Catholic Church officiated and music was provided by Judy Brist.
Interment was in St. Bridget's Cemetery, town of Seymour, Eau Claire County.
Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, Chippewa Falls is serving the family.
