Elizabeth M. "Betty" Peterson, 90, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born September 16, 1923 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Evelyn (Emerson) and Fred Gardner. She graduated from McDonnell High School in 1941.

On May 29, 1948, Betty married Wilbur G. "Pete" Peterson at the Church of Notre Dame in Chippewa Falls. They resided in Omaha, Nebraska for most of their marriage. Betty moved back to Chippewa Falls in 2010.

She is survived by a niece, Julia (Scott) Campbell of Eau Claire; and nephews, Mark Gardner of Chippewa Falls and Michael(Amber) Gardner of Eau Claire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete on March 18, 1993; brother, Robert Gardner; and sister-in-law, Donna Gardner.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 29 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce of Notre Dame Church officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
