Elna L. "Maggie" Buttenhoff, 89, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.

She was born December 30, 1925 in Eau Claire County to Helena (Maik) and Karl Drehmel. She graduated from Augusta High School.

Maggie worked as a practical nurse for 17 years at both Luther Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She also worked for Eau Claire County for many years.

In 1945, Maggie married Walter Steif. Together, they had four children. Walter preceded her in death.

On May 12, 1972, she married Gordon Buttenhoff.

Maggie was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. She taught her family the importance of faith and she will be remembered for her strength and her devotion to God.

She enjoyed playing cards and cribbage, watching the birds and feeding the squirrels. She also appreciated the beauty of plants and flowers in nature.

Maggie will be dearly missed by her husband Gordon of Chippewa Falls; four children, Ronald (Rose) Steif, Carolyn (Joe) Williamson, Karlene Allen, Laurie (Jim) Hayes, all of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Dr. Gerald (Enid) Drehmel of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Nancy (Gary) LaValley, Ron (Michelle) Williamson, Steven (Betty) Williamson, Amanda Marshall, Sarah Steif, David Oyer; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a sister, Elta Schumacher; brothers, Edward, Vern and Arvid Drehmel; and a granddaughter, Konnie (Williamson) Williams.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, July 31 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Friday, July 31 at the church.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 1 at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
