Ervin F. Purdeu, 86, of the village of Lake Hallie, Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016, surrounded by family.
Ervin was born May 13, 1930, at home in Lovington, Illinois, son of Milton and Donna Purdeu. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Ervin worked in the Dairy industry his entire life. He was one of the very few proclaimed "Master Craftsman" cheese makers by the Kraft Cheese Company. Later he became the President and General Manager of Falls Dairy Company, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 77 and a member of Holy Ghost Parish. His hobbies were traveling by Amtrak and spending time at his home at the lake.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; 4 children, Stephen (Gladys) of Boise, Idaho, Dennis Purdeu of Chippewa Falls, Jeanette Kolpien of Chippewa Falls, and Catherine (Mark) Erickson of Madison; 2 very special step-daughters, Lannette (Rick) Vaudreuil of Colfax and Glenda (Scott) Lyons of Augusta; grandchildren, Stephen Purdeu II, Teresa Marie Ryan, Charles Kolpien, Matt Kolpien, Sandra Purdeu, Jamie Purdeu, Brandon Purdeu, Cassie Wilcox, Trescha Giese, Camila Caballero, Nicolas Caballero, Mauricio Montoya, Matt Lyons, Mitchell Lyons, Samantha Lyons, Branden Vaudreuil, Dustin Vaudreuil and Savannah York - his very special god-daughter; great-grandchildren, Persephone, Donna, Ella, Blake, Claire, Tanner, Landon, Ashton, Tanner, Autumn, Scarlett, Jeremiah, Arianna, Ryan, Noah, and Lucas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Purdeu; and sister, Barbara Nally.
He will be remembered as a very generous and giving person and will be sadly missed by family and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 28 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls with Fr. Justin Kizewski officiating. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in the village of Lake Hallie with Military Honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at church.
Memorials will be given to the American Heart Association.
