Esther G. Zimmerman, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Wissota Health Transitions in Chippewa Falls while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born April 17, 1928 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Otto and Gerda (Olson) Gullickson. She graduated from Mondovi High School in 1946.
On October 5, 1946, Esther married LeRoy Zimmerman at Jim Falls United Methodist Church. They resided in the town of Eagle Point, where Esther made their home and raised their children. LeRoy preceded her in death on July 17, 1999.
Esther enjoyed gardening, knitting, and quilting. She made beautiful quilts for all of her grandchildren that they cherish dearly. She also enjoyed spending time at the Chippewa Falls Senior Center, where she made many friends over the years. She was a ringer at bowlingeven late in life, her grandchildren weren't able to defeat her. She will be sincerely missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue (John) Shakal of Boyd, Karen (Carlie) Olynick of Sheldon; three sons, Keith (Wanda) of Jim Falls, David (Kathy) of Jim Falls, Dale (Michele) of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Melwin (Janet) Gullickson, Willard (Kay) Gullickson, all of Eau Claire; a sister, Margaret Russell of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Nyhus of Wilmington, NC, Joan Zimmerman of Winlock, WA; nine grandchildren, Kerri Shakal, Mellisa (Eric) Pfundt, Brian (Christine) Zimmerman, Megan (fianc Justin Begalke) Zimmerman, James (special friend, Elizabeth Rowe) Zimmerman, Cody Zimmerman, Amanda Zimmerman, Kristopher Olynick, and Kayla (Doug) Schmitt; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Gracie J. and Trinity Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; a sister, Lucille Kjesbo; a sister-in-law, Ruth King; and two brothers-in-law, Merle Zimmerman and Patrick Russell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 25 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Pastor Stephanie Plasch officiating. Interment will follow at Copp Cemetery, town of Anson.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
