Ethel Matott Hinke, 97, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Jim Falls, town of Anson, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire.
She was born October 20, 1915 in Chippewa County to Caddie Rae (Bell) and Andrew Matott. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1934 and continued her education at Eau Claire Teacher's College, earning a teaching degree.
Her teaching career started in one-room schools around the area until 1964. She then taught second grade at Jim Falls Elementary School until her retirement. After retiring from teaching, Ethel worked for many years as a security guard at Cray Research.
She married Eugene Hinke on August 11, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jim Falls. They resided in Jim Falls during their marriage.
Ethel loved the outdoors. She was always busy in her yard, whether it was gardening or feeding the birds. She and Eugene loved to fish, especially ice fishing. Even after Eugene passed away, Ethel continued to go fishing by herself or with other family members.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) Hinke of Bloomer, James (Gail) Hinke of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Jeff (Leanne) Hinke of LaCrosse, Jennifer (Morgan) Hinke of Eau Claire, Christopher (Suzie) Hinke of New Auburn, Stacey (Ashley) Hinke of Altoona, Kayla (Bill) Hinke of Eau Claire; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; her husband, Eugene on June 16, 2000; and her daughter, Caddie on July 16, 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, officiating. Interment will follow in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral chapel.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Ethel Matott Hinke, 97, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain at Chippewa Manor officiated. Interment was in Copp Cemetery, town of Anson. Casket bearers were Morgan Tazelaar, Jeff, Christopher, Dalton, Stacey and Kayla Hinke.
