Eugene "Bud" Jarvis, 78, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Dove Healthcare - Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls.
Bud was born at home on January 4, 1940 to Hugo and Catherine (Wage) Jarvis in the township of Wauwatosa, WI. His family moved to Big Bend, WI at a young age, where he was then raised. After attending school in Mukwonago, WI, Bud enlisted with the United States Coast Guard in 1957 at the age of 17. He was stationed at St. George, Staten Island, New York as a Leading Seaman until his Honorable Discharge in 1960. After serving his country, he greatly enjoyed helping and operating SugarBush Resort in New Auburn, WI, which his parents owned. He enjoyed the many adventures that accompanied this.
Bud then moved to Eau Claire were he started his family and lived for several years. He started his career at Uniroyal, where he worked for over 20 years. Later, Bud returned to the Big Bend area to catch up with old friends. In 2006, he moved to Dancing Oaks senior community in Menomonie, WI and greatly enjoyed the close commaradie which he developed with the community. In 2014, he moved to the Rutledge Home.
Bud had many special talents and interests, which include trades in electrical, construction, auto mechanics and body work. He enjoyed watching car races and had a love for old cars. He loved going on family road trips, camping, playing games, and wouldn't hesitate to share a joke or two with family and friends.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Connie (Kory) Kastel of San Antonio, TX; Christine (Joe) Tschumperlin of Beaver Dam, WI; Cari (Joe) Schuch of Fall Creek, WI; sister, Dorothy (Donald) Barthel of Plover, WI; former wife, Joan Jarvis (Kruger) of Eau Claire, WI; Nine grandchildren one great-granddaugher; and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Jarvis; daughter, Carleen Bignell; Parents, Hugo and Catherine (Wage) Jarvis; grandson, Justin Hamilton; and significant other, Patti Holtermann.
The celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the chapel. Rev. Robert B. Hoekstra will be officiating. Following the services, Military Honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. A Burial at Sea will be at a later date conducted by the United States Coast Guard.
The family would like to thank the friends that helped him throughout the years and the staff at the Rutledge Home.
