Evelyn D. "Dolly" Nowak, 85, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire.

She was born October 20, 1928 in Eau Claire to Annice (Johnson) and Alfred Peterson. She attended Elk Creek Grade School, Chippewa Falls Jr. and Sr. High, graduating in 1947.

In 1949, Dolly married Leonard J. Nowak of Chippewa Falls. They resided in Chippewa Falls where Dolly was employed as a bookkeeper at the National Farm and Loan Association and the Chippewa County Sheriff's Dept. as head matron.

She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1038 and was treasurer and director of the Chippewa Rod and Gun Club. She loved bingo and was the casino bus coordinator for Chippewa Trails for a few years.

Survivors include her daughter, Beth Nowak of Chippewa Falls; son, Bradley (Jeri) Nowak of Chippewa Falls; a sister-in-law, Donna Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; a brother-in-law, Robert (Angie) Nowak of Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Sarah (John) Leonard, Holly (James) Nyabwari, Shad Nowak; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Christian, Cameron, Kemilee, Kearon and Alexa; three step-grandchildren, Kristle Williams, Kayla Goodman, Kassandra Seib; three step-great-grandchildren, Dominique, Phillip and Kaleb; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leonard in 1998; a sister, Mary Jane Peterson; three brothers, Gerald Peterson, Francis Peterson, a brother in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Natalie Peterson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Mark Homp officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Evelyn D. Dolly Nowak, 85, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Mark Homp officiated and music was provided by organist Linda Downey and vocalist, Bob Johnson. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were Tim Blizek, Doug Ellis, Ken Taylor, Ralph Coushman, Wayne Nehring and Ken Briggs.
