Evelyn I. Stamos, 78, of Chippewa Falls, town of Anson, went home to eternal life in heaven on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire.
She was born January 15, 1935 in Emerald, WI to Ethel (Wikkerink) and Elmer Vande Berg. Evelyn graduated from Hammond High School in 1953, as salutatorian of her class. She continued her education and graduated from Luther School of Nursing in 1956.
Evelyn started her nursing career as a surgical nurse at Luther Hospital, where she met her future husband while working in the ER. Later she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Fuson, then at Chippewa Manor Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls and from 1981 until her retirement in 1998, at the Midelfort Clinic.
On July 26, 1958, she married the love of her life, Clare Stamos. They had over 55 wonderful years together. She loved spending time with her family. They enjoyed many gatherings at their home on Lake Wissota, where Evelyn enjoyed life on and in the water. She had many interests, including quilting and knitting. She was a member of Chippewa Valley Bible Church in Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include her husband, Clare Stamos of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Mary Stamos of Chippewa Falls; two sons, David (Tami) of McHenry, IL; Scott (Kathy) of Medford; a sister, LaVern Wernland of Crystal, MN; and four grandchildren, Anne, Jacob, Matthew and Samantha Stamos. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Donald (Donna) Dickson of Altoona and sister-in-law, Beverly (Ken) Bergum of Oakbrook, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Lloyd Vande Berg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 2 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church with the Rev. Jim Woldhuis officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church
AFTERSERVICE
A funeral service for Evelyn I. Stamos, 78, of Chippewa Falls, town of Anson was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 2 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, Chippewa Falls. Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiated, with music was provided by Terri Tompkins and Bev Woldhuis and the eulogy was given by Evelyns daughter Mary Stamos. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Casket bearers were Jacob and Matthew Stamos, Stuart Krause, David Daniels, Tom Eggleston and John Dickson.
