Evelyn M. Thorpe, 96, of 925 N. High St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday evening, October 13, 2012 at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls.

She was born June 18, 1916 in the town of Bloomer to Martha (Polzin) and Albert Lueck. She attended school in Bloomer and New Auburn.

Evelyn married Gerald O. "Jerry" Thorpe on April 4, 1951 in Chippewa Falls and was happily married for 44 years until his death on December 26, 1995.

She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls for 61 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, deer hunting, cooking and baking, and especially her lake home on Henneman Lake in the town of Sampson.

Survivors include relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald O. Thorpe; her parents; a brother, Edwin Lueck and his wife, Laura; two sisters, Delia Young and her husband, Wallace, Mabel Vetterkind and her husband, Earl and her special companion, Harold Muenich.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 17 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Rick Hoyme officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 - 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 16 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

Memorials in memory of Evelyn may be directed to Central Lutheran Church or the Irvine Park Foundation would be appreciated.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Evelyn M. Thorpe, 96, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 17 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Rick Hoyme officiated and music was provided by Christine Hitt.

Interment followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were Mark Martens, Bill Volker, Jim Wischnewski and Carmen Muenich.
