Fern I. Eggen, 94, of Chippewa Falls, Village of Lake Hallie, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Parkview Nursing Home in Woodville.

She was born April 29, 1918 in the town of Wheaton, Chippewa County to Ella (Diehl) and John Bernhard.

Fern married Charles Eggen on January 27, 1937 in Eau Claire. The couple first lived in Eau Claire, where Fern raised their children and made their home and they later moved to Hallie. Charles preceded her in death on November 29, 2009. Fern moved to Woodville in April, 2012 to be near her daughter.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlys (John "Mike") Hyland of Woodville; a son, Dale Eggen of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Lois Mortimer of Eau Claire, Bernice Cook of Baraboo; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Arlene; two sons, Jerry and Dean; and two sisters, Grace Drake and Edna Salo.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12 at Hallie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Fern I. Eggen, 94, of the village of Lake Hallie, was held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12 at Hallie United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Eric Nelson officiated and music was provided by Marilyn Brace and Doug Parker. Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie. Casket bearers were Andrew and Tony Eggen, Tim Hyland, Jeff Fremouw, John and Adam Zevenbergen.
