Florence Miller

She was born September 1, 1920 in Stanley, Wisconsin, Wordon Township, to Anna (Johnson) and Magnus Ricksford. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1940.

Florence married Willard M. "Bill" Miller on May 27, 1944. The couple resided in Chippewa Falls, where she was employed at Mason Shoe Receiving Department and later at the Northern Center as a seamstress. She retired in 1963.

She was a devoted member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. She taught Sunday School, sung in the church choir, directed the junior choir, was an organist and a very active member of the quilters club.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lynda (Wayne) Kaphaem of Tomahawk, Deborah (Timm) Smith of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Jedd Smith of Chippewa Falls, Tiffany Smith of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Heather Kaphaem of Steven's Point, Crystal Kaphaem of California; a great-grandson, Evan Smith of Chippewa Falls; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill on August 31, 1994; four brothers, Arnt, Edwin, Harold and Lloyd Ricksford; and her sister, Martha Tubbs.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 15 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Paul Oppedahl and the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m., Monday, November 14 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Contributions in Florence's memory may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or to Lutheran Social Services.

Afterservice

A funeral service for Florence I. Miller, 91, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiated and Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra assisted. Music was provided by organist, Barbara Sandford and sololist, Nikki Harper.

Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were: Bill and Steve Olson, Timm, Jedd and Evan Smith, Wayne Kaepham, Gary Gienapp and Gary Linhart.
