Floyd P. Yeager, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at home with under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

He was born February 17, 1924 in Ladysmith to Helen (Berchem) and Peter Yeager. He grew up farming and hauling milk on his family's dairy farm in Sheldon, Wisconsin.

Floyd married Dorothy Deron on August 12, 1967 in Chicago. The couple moved to Chippewa Falls in 1968, where Floyd worked for Crane Lumber Co. and U-Can Recycling in Eau Claire. Dorothy preceded him in death in March, 1994.

Survivors include his very special friend for the past 12 years, Maxine McElroy-Kowieski of Chippewa Falls; sisters, Gertrude Perkovich of Eau Claire, Dorothy Johnson of Wheeling, IL, Beatrice Yeager of Eau Claire; brothers, Donald (Yvonne) Yeager of Chippewa Falls, Harold (Francis) Yeager of Waterloo, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by Maxine's children, Bonnie (Roger) Reese, Linda Hoem, Nancy (Dean) Gerrits, Carol (Lee) Dizienkowski, Mary Ann (Tom) Heidtke, Tom (Patti) McElroy, all of Chippewa Falls, Larry (Pam) McElroy, Donald (Debbie) McElroy, all of Jim Falls, Dennis (Mary) McElroy of Sheldon; her 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and William Yeager; and Maxine's son-in-law, Wallace "Wally" Hoem.

Floyd enjoyed playing weekly card games with Maxine and her family, and liked listening to country music. Although he didn't have children of his own, he appreciated being embraced by Maxine's children and grandchildren. He loved being a part of their lives and truly valued time spent with them.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 24 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra, chaplain for St. Joseph's Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Floyd P. Yeager, 88, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra, officiated and music was provided by organist, Judy Brist and vocalist, Ann Richmond. Personal reflections were given by Carol Dizienkowski and nephew, Brian Yeager.

Interment was in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were: Larry, Tom, Donald, Dennis and Bill McElroy, Wilford Hakes and Travis Richmond.
