Frank Koepke

d. July 1, 2011

He was born July 13, 1928 in Glendive, Montana to Olie (Kolp) and August Koepke. He grew up in Glendive and attended school there.

He was proud to have served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged.

Frank married Doris Mae Hanson on August 29, 1973 in Rapid City, South Dakota. The couple resided in the Village of Lake Hallie. Doris' two children became Frank's family and he enjoyed being a part of their lives. He loved spending time with his great-grandchildren; taking them out to buy treats, picking them up from school and attending their events. He will be dearly missed.

He worked at Bergman's in Eau Claire for many years and for the past 16 years, worked as an inside guard and helped with maintenance at the Eagle's Club in Hallie. Frank moved to Eau Claire shortly after the passing of his wife. He had most recently been a resident at Dove Healthcare West.

He was a longtime member of Landmark Christian Church in Hallie, where he also cleaned the church and maintained the yard. He was a member of the committee that brought the Flag Park to Hallie and was a member of the Eau Claire VFW post #305, and played on the VFW pool league. He loved to fish and be outdoors.

He is survived by two stepchildren, Judy Gassen and Larry Woodford, both of Eau Claire; a sister, Frances; a brother, Willie; a step-grandson, Jerry (Roberta) Gassen of Chippewa Falls; three step-great-grandchildren, Jenna, Justin and Evan; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris on April 13, 1996; three sisters, Tracy, Marie and Ann; and a brother, Ernie.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 6 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Nate Oldenkamp, chaplain of Dove Healthcare, officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
