Gary T. DeMotts Sr., 61, of Chippewa Falls, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
Gary was born on January 11, 1956 in Eau Claire WI. He was adopted by Thomas and Evelyn (Rone) DeMotts as an infant. He graduated from North High School in Eau Claire with the class of 1974. Gary married Debra Schindler on January 25, 1975 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.
Gary loved being outdoors, playing with his grandchildren, and being with family and friends. He loved trucking, especially bringing his beloved wife to see the world. He was a WWII enthusiast and loved sharing his knowledge with others. Gary also had a passion for cooking. His philosophy was, "If you go away hungry, it was your own damn fault, means more for me." Gary was also a father figure to many even though they were not blood related. He thought the best of everyone and never looked down on anyone. Gary was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be deeply missed by many.
Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deb; his son, Gary Jr. (Nettie) DeMotts of Chippewa Falls; daughters, Kathy (Dwayne) Bathke of Newton, IA, and Tanya (Adam) Hilsgen of Chippewa Falls; his grandchildren, Aspen and Clayton DeMotts, Shane, Landon and Austin, and Briana and Breckelle, Madalyn; his brother, Bradley DeMotts of IL; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his chitlins (dogs), Oreo, Deuce, Sophie and Toby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ellen, and father-in-law, Marvin Schindler.
A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Jim Woldhuis will be officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
