Genevieve Walton

March 23, 1948 — April 26, 2022

Eau Claire

Genevieve Walton, 74, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Communities – River Pines, surrounded by family and under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

She was born on March 23, 1948, in Morenci, AZ to Adolfo “Frank” and Mary (Cass) Diaz. Shortly after they moved to Los Angeles, CA.  Genevieve was one of eight children and the youngest of four girls.

Genevieve grew up in the L.A. area and graduated from Bishop Conaty – Our Lady of Loretto High School. She moved to Milwaukee, WI in her 20’s to raise and continue her family - her daughter, Belinda, and son, Charles. She moved to Eau Claire after retiring from US Bank.

Growing up she enjoyed shopping with her father and had fond memories of shopping together for her high school prom dress. She loved learning to cook and became especially good at soul food.  Her biggest pride and joy were her two children, and she was proud of her son becoming a police officer.

Genevieve had a gentle presence but was always ready with a witty remark.

Genevieve is survived by her son, Charles (Emily) Walton of Lake Hallie, granddaughter Makenna Walton; grandsons, Bernard Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Jerod Hill of Milwaukee, WI; siblings, Rena Diaz, Robert (Barbara) Diaz, Raymond Diaz, Irene (Freddie) Acevedo and Tony Diaz, all of CA; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Belinda (Bernard) Hill; sister, Gloria Diaz; and brother, Jess “Choo Chee” Diaz.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
