George A. Kohls, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, January 27, 2014 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

He was born August 24, 1925 in Cornell to Mildred (Stipek) and William Kohls. He attended the Eleanor School.

George married Betty Olds on September 14, 1949. They resided in the town of Arthur, Chippewa County, where George farmed for most of his life. He also worked at the Jim Falls Dairy for many years.

George loved to read, especially the Bible; play the card game Schmear; and discuss politics and religion.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Mike) Cigan, Patti (Dean) Frenette all of Chippewa Falls, Sandy (Dave) Peckels of Roberts, WI, Kim (Andy) Ersland of New Richmond; six sons, Tom (Judy) Kohls, Dan (Mary) Kohls all of Cadott, Dick Kohls of Baldwin, Donnie (Jayne) Kohls of Rochester, IN, Tim Kohls and Mike Kohls both of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Emma Humphreyof Kent, WA, Violet Twerberg of Chippewa Falls; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Bob Kohls; a sister Florence; three grandchildren, Carey Cigan, Andrew Ersland, Brett Kohls; two brothers-in-law, Ben Humphrey and Roland Twerberg.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel

AFTERSERVICE

A memorial service for George A. Kohls, 88, of Chippewa Falls was held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 31 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Greg Sima officiated and music was provided by son, Donald Kohls and grandson, Jesse Kohls. Personal reflections were shared by family and friends. Interment will be at a later date at Big Drywood Lutheran Cemetery, town of Goetz.
