Gladys Ann Lundberg Carlson was born in Isanti County, MN, March 13, 1921 to August and Anna (Anderson) Lundberg. She attended rural elementary District 21 School and graduated from Cambridge High School, Cambridge MN. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN in 1942.

She married Rev. Earl Carlson in 1945, and served her Lord with him in faithful ministry to the congregations to which they were called. Her vocation was teaching, which she practiced officially for 25 years in Taylor Falls, MN, Harvey, IL, Kewanee, IL and Berwyn, IL, retiring in 1982. She was an active leader in the IL and MN Lutheran women's synod organizations; directed church youth choirs; and served as hostess in the parsonage. She loved music and drama and enjoyed giving dramatic presentation professionally throughout the Midwest. She was best known for her rendition of "Papa's Wife" by Bjorn. Many summers were spent fishing and entertaining family and friends in the cabin at South Long Lake in the Brainerd, MN area. In 1985 Gladys moved with Earl into the first home they had ever owned newly constructed on South Long Lake property. In 2000 they moved from the lake to Woodland Acres in Brainerd and then in 2012, to the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community in Chippewa Falls, WI.

Gladys will be remembered for her open home, creativity, quick wit, ready opinion, love of fun, and fierce love for her Lord and her family, roughly defined as blood relations and the many "children" she unofficially adopted.

Gladys passed away September 20 at the age of 92. She leaves behind Earl Carlson, her husband of 68 years, four children; Ruth (Randy) Lundblad, Paul (Sandy) Carlson, Naomi (Tom) Powers, and Tim (Laura) Carlson, 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 24 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1300 Mansfield St., Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Paul Oppedahl officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
