Gladys H. Christenson, age 96, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015.

She was born October 25, 1918, in Stanley, Wisconsin to Martin and Emma (Scheil) Weir. Gladys graduated from Stanley High School in 1937. She went on to get a teaching degree at Eau Claire Teachers' College, and taught eight grades in a one room country school.

She married Simon (Si) Christenson on September 2nd, 1943. Together they owned and operated the Chippewa Sand and Gravel Company until January, 1968.

Gladys loved to entertain, and made friends wherever she travelled. She had a strong faith in God and enjoyed church activities. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for us with unconditional love. Mom (Gladys) had a positive influence on many lives. She was an active volunteer for a number of organizations, and never too busy if help was needed.

She is survived by her children, Carol Shaffer of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Jacque (Janna) Christenson of Mission Viejo, CA; two grandchildren, Grant (Kerrie) Shaffer, Janelle (Jessie) Blazina; and four great-grandchildren, Tessa Shaffer, Gavin Shaffer, Ezekial (Zeke) Blazina, and soon to be born Hadassa Blazina; one sister, Charlotte Tusken in Texas; and several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Si; two brothers, Otis Weir, Jule Weir; two sisters, Helen Crandell, and Ethel Larson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 22 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with Pastor Jack Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
