Glenn P. Seyforth, 82, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

He was born September 21, 1931 in Chippewa Falls to Dorothy (Cotter) and Francis Seyforth. He graduated from McDonnell High School in 1950. He served honorably for five years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Immediately following his military service, Glenn flew for United Airlines. A small heart attack grounded Glenn from flying and he moved back to Chippewa Falls to work as a field representative for SuperValu. He was later transferred to Bismarck, ND. It was in Bismarck that Glenn met Arla Solberg. He and Arla married on March 15, 1962, just two months after meeting. In 1964, the couple moved back to Glenn's hometown of Chippewa Falls so he could run his father's grocery store, Seyforth's SuperValu. He then owned and operated Quality Appliance, all the while doing photography as a hobby. He bought his first camera at age 9, after saving money from shining shoes and working a paper route.

Photography soon became his full time career and he opened his own studio, Seyforth's Photography. Glenn's other passion was car racing. He was able to combine the two and over the years, Glenn took many trips to NASCAR and Indy races, taking photos for the Chippewa Herald. His travels led him to meet many drivers, owners, celebrities and other interesting people. With the help of his friend Mark Baker, Glenn wrote "Race Fever" a book celebrating 60 years of racing enjoyment.

Survivors include his wife, Arla; three sons, Tim (Cheryl Garey) Seyforth, Darrin (Shannon) Seyforth and Wade Seyforth all of Chippewa Falls; a granddaughter, Kennedy Seyforth; a sister, JoAnn (Gilbert) Nack of Menomonee Falls, two sisters-in-law, Doris Landerholm and Beverly Solberg both of Bismark, ND, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Lois Wooster; and two brothers-in-law, Ed Landerholm and Bernard Solberg.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Terri Koca officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
