Gordon H. Buttenhoff, 95, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Chippewa Manor.
He was born November 28, 1920 in Chippewa Falls to William and Alice (Hilp) Buttenhoff.
On May 12, 1972, he married Elna "Maggie" (Drehmel) Steif. They spent many great years together and their winters in Florida and Arizona. Gordy was a humble man with a kind and generous heart and a contagious smile. He was a hard worker and a faithful follower of Christ, setting a great example for his friends and family. He worked on the family farm for over 60 years, retiring in 1984.
Gordon was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. He taught his family the importance of faith and will be remembered for his strength and devotion to God. He was also a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.
Gordon will be dearly missed by his four children, Ronald (Rose) Steif, Carolyn (Joe) Williamson, Karlene Allen, Laurie (Jim) Hayes, all of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren, Nancy (Gary) LaValley, Ron (Michelle) Williamson, Steven (Betty) Williamson, Amanda (Christian) Williams, Sarah Steif, David Oyer; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ione Brovold of Chippewa Falls; brother, Ed Buttenhoff of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie; granddaughter, Konnie (Williamson) Williams; and sister, Edna Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 15 at Faith Lutheran Church, 733 Woodward Ave., Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to thank the caretakers at Chippewa Manor for their loving care, and Gordy's dear friend, Linda Ahlen, for her support and friendship over the years.
