Grace Emma Tiry, 94, of Chippewa Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Bloomer.

She was born November 26, 1919 in West Union, MN to Emma (Lange) and William Oemig. She came to Wisconsin as a small child and grew up in the Cornell area, graduating from Cornell High School.

Grace continued her education at Eau Claire Business College, and after was employed by the Red Cross and the F/F Shoe Factory. She then graduated from Eau Claire Teacher's College and taught school in the Cornell and Clayton areas.

On March 20, 1945, Grace married Raymond Tiry, and they were in partnership in farming, trucking and for over 20 years, had the Star Route mail contract for the U.S. Postal System.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, having joyfully taught Bible classes and VBS for many years. She was also active in the Ladies Aide and had served on many committees. She loved and enjoyed the Lord and all people.

Survivors include her two sons, Larry Tiry, Ron (Sharon) Tiry, all of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Helen Ruf of Bloomer, Irene Foster of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren, Monica (David) Miller of Eau Claire, Aaron (Cheree) Tiry of Altoona, Morgan Tiry of Cadott, Mark (Angie) Tiry of Amery, Tracy (Ryan) Doud of Trempeleau, David Tiry of Eau Claire; seven great-grandchildren, Celsey, Miigwan, Natasha, Cassandra and Samantha Grace Tiry, Amelia and LilyAnn Doud; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond in 1991; three sisters, Norma Kappus, Clara Jensen and Ellen Davis; five brothers, William "Bud", John, Wallace, Edward, and Elmer Oemig.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February, 27 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

AFTERSERVICE

A funeral service for Grace Emma Tiry, 94, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 27 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. William Plautz officiated and music was provided by organist, Barbara Sandford and vocalist, Mike Kipp. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were Aaron, David, Mark and Morgan Tiry, Ryan Doud and David Miller.
