Grayce Lucilla Gilmore, 95, of Chippewa Falls, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Chippewa Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chippewa Falls.

She was born on March 29, 1918 in Tomah to Fanny (Hilliker) and Francis Walcup. She graduated from Tomah High School.

Grayce married her high school sweetheart Duane Gilmore on December 30, 1944 in Tomah.

She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls, United Methodist Women and St. Josephs Hospital Auxiliary. She worked for the Cooperative Education Service Agency (CESA) for 19 years.

Survivors include her grandson, Jason Scott Gilmore of Los Angeles, CA; several nieces, nephews and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane on February 12, 1982; a son, Scott Gilmore on January 29, 1994; a brother, Cecil Walcup; and a sister, Thea Walcup Kurtz.

Grayce loved her family, friends and neighbors. She also loved to knit, crochet, bake and travel. She was known for her kindness and sense of humor.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Terri Koca of Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls officiating. Please bring or email office@pedersonvolker.com your personal Grayceisms to share at the tribute to a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Trinity United Methodist or to Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls.

AFTERSERVICE:

A memorial service for Grayce L. Gilmore, 95, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 7 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Terri Koca of Trinity United Methodist Church officiated and music was provided by Judy Brist, Toni Burkman and Louise Flancha. Many friends and family members shared memories of Grayce.
