Harold L. Bergeron, 81, of Chippewa Falls, town of Eagle Point, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
He was born November 26, 1935 in Chippewa County, the son of Frances (Weber) and
Leo Bergeron. He grew up in Chippewa Falls, where he also attended school. Following high school, Harold joined the U.S. Army National Guard and served proudly.
Harold married Dorothy Phillips, and to their union had four children, Scott, Jeff, Mike and Dawn. They later divorced.
On June 14, 1974, Harold married Jeanine (Campbell) Back. Jeanine had two children from a previous marriage, Dan and John, which Harold raised as his own. They resided in th
e home where Harold lived since he was four years old, on the Chippewa River in the town of Eagle Point. Harold worked for American Materials for 43 years until retiring in 1997.
Living on the river was a dream for an outdoorsman like Harold. He made many memories there, fishing the river,
hunting on his land, raising horses, and spending quality time with family and friends. He enjoyed going to rodeos, hunting elk out west, and traveling. As he got older, he wasn't much for Wisconsin winters anymore, so he and Jeanine would spend the season in South Padre Island, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine of Chippewa Falls; five children, Jeff Bergeron, Mike Bergeron (Linda Felmlee), Dawn Bergeron (Craig Champion), all of Lake Hallie, Dan (Toni) Back of Cornell, and John Back of Lake Hallie; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and many wonderful in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings and their spouses, Lyle (Joni), Johnnie (Evelyn), Duane (Pauline) Bergeron, and Marie (Art) Gillespie; father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Lillian Campbell; and a son, Scott Bergeron.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 29 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church with the Rev. Jim Woldhuis officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Chippewa Valley Bible Church.
Harold's family would like to thank the family and friends that helped this past month. A special thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice for being so prompt during a desperate timeyou all were outstanding.
