Harold W. Hass, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Cornell Care Center.
He was born June 6, 1925 in Chippewa Falls to Inga (Nyhus) and Frederick Hass. In 1943, Harold graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
Following high school, Harold was drafted into the US Army Air Force and served proudly from 1943 - 45, from 1950 - 51, from 1979 - 80, all while in the Reserves, for a total of 37 years of service, being honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. While serving, he was awarded Air Force Gunner's Wings, the Air Medal, three Air Force Commendation Medals, seven Oak Leaf Clusters and many other awards and decorations.
In 2009, he was proud to be chosen to go on the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington DC.
On April 6, 1947, he married Sara "Nan" Wyman. They resided in Chippewa Falls, where Harold worked at the County Hwy Dept. as a mechanic, retiring after 37 years.
Harold's favorite past times were hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time at the hunting cabin that he and his father built together.
He was a member and commander of the Chippewa Falls American Legion Post #77; and past president of Local 736, Chippewa Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Sara of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Ellen (Mark) Nodolf of Cornell; a son, Jan Hass of Champlin, MN; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Judy Hass; and a son, William Hass on September 24, 1993.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 25 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
Visitation will be held from 4 -7 p.m., Sunday, March 24 and until the time of service Monday at the funeral chapel.

AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Harold W. Hass, 87, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 25 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated.
Interment with military honors was at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Casket bearers were Josiah, Jonathan and Maxwell Hass, Neil Nix, Deane Flackey and Richard "Bud" Nyhus.
