Harold Lloyd "Red" Nayes, 85, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at home.
He was born April 28, 1928 in rural Cadott, the eleventh and last child Mary (Hanson) and Henry Nayes. He has resided in Chippewa Falls since 1941, graduating from Chippewa Falls High School in 1946.
Red served in the US Army in October 1946 with duty in occupied Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1948.
Red married Bonnie L. Redmond on April 2, 1949 at Zion United Brethren Church in Chippewa Falls.
He worked at Johnson Plastics Machinery for 25 years and then nine years at Extrusion Dies, retiring April 28, 1993.
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, the Men's Club and the American Legion. He also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include two sons, Terrence L. (Jane) Nayes of Eden Prairie, MN, Thomas J. (Tammy) Nayes of New Auburn; three grandchildren, Emily Jane, David Anthony and Tanner James Nayes; a great-grandson, William David Clark; and a brother, Raleigh (Betty) Nayes of Chippewa Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie on December 28, 2001; five brothers, Roy, Marinus, Henry, Ralph and John; and a sister, Loretta Prpish.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at Zion United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls with the Revs. Ann Scott and Paul Foulke officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July1 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Memorials in Red's honor may be directed to the Zion United Methodist Building Fund.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Harold Lloyd "Red" Nayes, 85, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at Zion United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. The Revs. Ann Scott and Paul Foulke officiated and music was provided by Jackie Gibbs and Dan Lea.
Burial with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls and Frankie Rineck bugled "Taps."
