She was born August 16, 1918 in Higginson, Arkansas to Mabel (Beamer) and Henry Joles.
She married Sam Wells on April 24, 1934 in St. Louis, MO. After their marriage, they resided in the Chippewa Falls area. She had been a resident of Washington, MO since 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (James) Wells of Prairie du Chien; three sons, John (Joyce) Wells of Perryville, MO, Fred (Murl) Wells of Thorp, Leonard (Charity) Wells of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wells of Owen; sister-in-law, Marilyn Joles of Chippewa Falls; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 20, 1992; two sons, Henry and Valley Joe Wells; a daughter, Patience Wells; three sisters, Sophia and Lily Joles, Patience Wells; two brothers, Valley Joles and Tom Joles.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 2-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26 and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

A funeral service for Hazel I. (Joles) Wells, 92, of Washington, Missouri, formerly of Chippewa Falls, was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls. Hazel's nephew, Pastor Leonard Wells officiated.
Casket bearers were: Fred Wells, John Conrad, James Wright, Sam Wells, Leonard Wells and Bob Chaulsett. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie.
