Hedrington, Ellen

Ellen H. Hedrington, 83, of 820 S. Main St., Chippewa Falls, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at her residence.

She was born October 1, 1928 in the town of Anson the daughter of Jennie (Nystrom) and Giles Schaal. She was raised in the town of Anson and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. She then graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis.

Ellen married Lowry Nelson in 1949 at the Swedish Baptist Church in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis after their marriage. Her husband died in November 1957 and she moved to Chippewa Falls in 1958, where she began her employment at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Ellen married Donald "Tiny" Hedrington in 1959 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls and they resided at 820 S. Main St. Don died January 20, 1980. Ellen then married Eugene Hedrington on May 1, 1982 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.

She was on the nursing staff of St. Joseph's for 42 years, retiring in 2002.

Survivors include: her husband, Gene; seven sons, Scott (Chari) Nelson of Hudson, Rick Nelson of St. Paul, Tim (Yvonne) Hedrington, Mark (Paulette) Hedrington, Ron (Vicki) Hedrington, Dan (Camille) Hedrington, Bill (Holly) Hedrington all of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Laura (Dan) McKinney of Chippewa Falls, Connie Kamara of Winona, Minn.; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husbands, Lowry Nelson and Donald Hedrington; a daughter, Jaqueline Hedrington; a son, Thomas Hedrington and a brother Wayne Schaal.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 11 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

A funeral service for Ellen H. Hedrington, 83, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at Chippewa Valley Bible Church in Chippewa Falls. Pastor Jim Woldhuis officiated and music was provided by organist, Bev Woldhuis and soloist, Monique Woods. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were: Luke, Justin, Nick Josh and Dylan Hedrington, Corey, Ryan and Kirk Nelson.
