Helen D. Boettcher, 94, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Comforts of Home in Chippewa Falls.
She was born January 25, 1919 to Lenora Henrietta (Harck) and Albert Edward Boettcher.
Helen was a life-long resident of Chippewa Falls. She lived most of her life in her family home on Culver St. The past few years she has resided at Comforts of Home in Chippewa Falls.
She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1937. She worked at Waterman's Department Store in Chippewa Falls for 34 years and then was employed at the office at Mason Shoe Company from 1976 until her retirement in 1984.
Helen was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. Her family has been members of Zion United Methodist beginning with her great-grandfather Franz Boettcher and later her grandparents Caroline and Gustav Harck. Helen served as the secretary of the Sunday school for 50 years and director of youth for 30 years. Helen was the longest standing member of Zion United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edward Boettcher; sisters, Dorothy Boettcher and Florence (Boettcher) Olds.
Her family and church were most important in Helen's life. Friends will remember her generous heart, her hobbies of gardening and growing violets and her many knitting projects.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 9 at Zion United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls with Rev. Ann Scott officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Memorials in Helen's honor are appreciated and may be designated to Zion United Methodist Church.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Helen D. Boettcher, 94, of Chippewa Falls, was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 9 at Zion United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Ann Scott and Rev. Paul Fulke officiated. Music was provided by Rev. Steve Scott and personal reflections were shared by Julie Garrish. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were Don, Patrick and Benjamin Boos, Don Weisenberg, Gary Quammen and Harold "Red" Nayes.
