Helen M. Kummer, 87, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Cleghorn, left us to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer.

She was born May 10, 1926 in Durand to Alvina (Waldbillig) and Frank Schalko. She graduated from Mondovi High School in 1944.

On June 5, 1946, she married Cletus Bud Kummer in Mondovi. They moved to Chippewa Falls in 1966, where Helen raised their children and made their home. Helen worked as a dietician for the Chippewa Falls School System and for St. Josephs Hospital.

Helens favorite pastimes were spent sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed dancing and playing bingo. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include five daughters, Pat (Garnet) Mathwig, Bev Goettl, Peggy (Tom) Schmidt, all of Chippewa Falls, Betty Boiteau of Bloomer, Shirley (Tom) Tibbitts of Eau Claire; a son, Rodney (Chris) Kummer of Seminole, FL; a sister, Delores Freagon of Eau Claire; a son-in-law, Jim Crandall of Altoona; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sharon Crandall; sons-in-law, Dave Goettl and Howie Boiteau; a grandson, Mike Boiteau; and two brothers, Stan and Walter Schalko.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 25 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. William Plautz officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rest Haven Cemetery, Eau Claire, with a lunch reception at the church following the graveside service.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, May 24 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
