She was born September 21, 1914 in the town of Tilden to Jessie (Kingsland) and Forest Bateman. She was raised in the town of Lafayette and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1932. She attended Teacher's Training at Eau Claire Normal and then taught school at rural country schools.
Irene married Robert McIlquham on July 17, 1937. She has resided in Chippewa Falls since their marriage.
Survivors include: two daughters, Janet (Larry) Johnson, Karen (Miro) Medved all of St. Paul; two sons, Michael (Barbara) McIlquham of Chippewa Falls, Marshall McIlquham of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a sister, Marian Gilles of Cadott; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: her parents; her husband, Robert on December 19, 1987; three sisters, Elsie McIlquham, Blanche LeMay, Margaret Stanley and a brother, George Bateman.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday July 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with Chaplain Nate Oldenkamp officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
