James M. "Jim" Dimock, 61, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at his home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

On October 26, 1953, Jim was born to Roger and Adele (Johnson) Dimock in Chippewa Falls, WI. On August 9, 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Kristine Hertha Rahn. Together they raised two children; a daughter, Erin (Dimock) Hunt and a son, Joel.

Jim graduated high school from Chippewa Falls Sr. High and went on to college at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, two institutions he would come to know well throughout his career. He continued graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Superior to obtain his Masters in Administration.

Jim spent his life loving his family and his community. He recently resigned as the board chair of the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District, where he spent his entire career working first as a teacher, then a principal, followed by a term in the district's administrative offices. Jim retired as a principal, a position he most cherished as it gave him the opportunity to bring children and adults together to focus on the gift of education.

Following his retirement, Jim volunteered his time with St. Joseph's Hospice. From May 2012, until September 2014, he provided respite care and companionship to patients and their families. He also spent time volunteering in his grandchildren's classrooms working in small groups with the kids.

Jim was a voracious reader with a love for learning, arts, technology and conversation.

In 1997, Jim was named the National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Wisconsin Principal of the Year. In 2004, Jim was inducted into the UW-Eau Claire Hall of Honor. He completed training through the Harvard Principals' Center and was a presenter at many state and national educators' conferences. He served as a board member of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators and the Wisconsin Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, a board member and past chair of the Cray Academy, and a senior staff member of the Wisconsin Academy Staff Development Initiative

In the community, Jim served on various committees for the UW-Eau Claire College of Education and Human Services, also including the UW Alumni Board, Cook Rutledge Mansion board of trustees, Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology, Heyde Center for the Arts, and Chippewa Falls Lions Club.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kristine Dimock; daughter, Erin (Kevin) Hunt; son, Joel (Rachel) Dimock; grandchildren, Addyson Hunt, Kallie Hunt, Sawyer Dimock and Ben Dimock; niece, Melissa Littman; nephew, Michael Perry; many relatives; and dear friends, and colleagues.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Adele Dimock; sister, Diane Perry; and niece, Kris Avery.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 810 Pearl St., Chippewa Falls with Fr. Ed Shuttleworth and Fr. Frank Corradi officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
