Jean Ann Brovold, 86, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls after a brief illness.
She was born to Mamie (Johnson) and Albert Hanson on August 19, 1925 in the town of Northfield. She graduated from Hixton High School in 1943. She worked at Lockheed Martin in California and as a keypunch operator at Delco Electronics in Milwaukee.
Jean married Rolf "Bud" Brovold in October 1956. After Bud's death Jean resided in Trempealeau and worked at Watkins Products until retiring at the age of 75. After a bout with pneumonia in 2005 Jean moved to Chippewa Falls to be closer to family.
Jean loved to do crossword puzzles, watch game shows (especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune) and spending time with her family.
She is survived by: two daughters, Marlys Freimark, Grove City, Ohio, Lisa (Dan) Swallows, Winterset, Iowa; son, Randy (Kathy) Nelson, Chippewa Falls; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Brovold; son-in-law, Steve (Mary) Barney; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sister, Harriet Nerby, Black River Falls, Donna Jennings, Eau Claire and Nila Hanson, Sequim, Wash.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Bud, daughter, Vicki Barney, son, Chuck Brovold and sister, Elenore Kleven.
Our mom will be remembered for her sense of humor, her laugh, along with her wit and keen memory. Her determination and strong will in life is an inspiration to us all.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 11 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating.
Friends may call from 1p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral chapel.
AFTERSERVICE:
A memorial service for Jean Ann Brovold, 86, of Chippewa Falls, was held Sunday, March 11, at 3 p.m., at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and music was provided by organist, Judy Brist and vocalist, Doug Parker.
Interment will be at a later date in Trempeleau Cemetery, in Trempeleau.
