Jeanie M. Hepfler, age 58, of Chippewa Falls, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 surrounded by her family and while under the care of Mayo Home Hospice after a long battle with leukemia.
She was born May 25, 1959 in Amery to Judith A. (Wolding) and John Spare. As a child, Jeanie’s family moved to Chippewa Falls and she graduated from Chi-Hi in 1978.
Jeanie continued her education at UW-EC and UW-Stout, graduating with a B.S. in Special Education & Vocational Rehabilitation. She went on to obtain two Master’s Degrees, her first in Family Therapy and her second in School Counseling, both from UW-Stout.
On December 8, 1984, Jeanie married Patrick Hepfler. They resided in Chippewa Falls where she worked as a counselor at Halmstad, Southview and Jim Falls Elementary Schools for several years then went into private practice. She was most currently at Mayo Health Systems, Eau Claire working as a family therapist for the past 18 years, until her illness no longer allowed her.
Jeanie will be remembered for her full of life spirit and positive attitude. She loved getting together with family for holiday festivities, and traveling with Pat and her children. She enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, bird watching and she loved all animals.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Pat; her children, Brianna and Tel Hepfler, and Dom Goyette, all of Chippewa Falls; her mother, Judith Spare of Chippewa Falls; her siblings, Julie (Jim) Prijatel of Avon, MN, Jennifer (Phillip) Sarazen, John (Renee) Spare, all of Chippewa Falls; her father and mother-in-law, Lee and Jackie Hepfler of Chippewa Falls; brother-in-law, Mike (Karen) Hepfler of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Michele (Don) Vandenheuvel of Freedom, WI; many nieces and nephews, several beloved pets; and numerous dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Spare; her maternal grandparents, George and Ruth Wolding; and her dog, Molly.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 26 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jeanie’s honor may go to the Greenhalgh Memorial Music Endowment Fund, c/o The Community Foundation of Chippewa County, PO Box 153, 404 ½ N Bridge Street, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. This particular fund was chosen because Jeanie’s daughter, Brianna is very involved with and passionate for the Chi Hi Marching Band Program. She was also a member of the Chi-Hi band under the direction of Doug Greenhalgh at the time of his death.
