Jeffrey R. Nelson, 65, of Chippewa Falls, Village of Lake Hallie, died September 14, 2012 unexpectedly at his home.
He was born September 19, 1946 in Eau Claire to Bette (Paff) and Edward Nelson. He grew up in Albertville and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School.
Following high school, Jeff worked as a butcher with his father at the Nelson Meat Plant in Albertville. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving honorably for six years. He then went to work with his two brothers at Nelson Bros. Jeff worked as a carpenter for many years until his retirement.
Jeff's favorite pastime was being on the open road riding his Harley, enjoying the freedom it brought. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, shooting pool, small game hunting, vegetable and flower gardening and spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Becky of Hallie; two daughters, Tammy Nelson of Madison, Jamie Heskett of Savage, MN; three sons, Todd, Cody and Colton Nelson, all of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Judi (John) Harper of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Mark (Linda) Nelson of New Auburn, Mike (Jean) Nelson of Albertville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. A graveside service will be on Thursday, September 20 at 2 p.m. at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wheaton, Chippewa County.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
AFTERSERVICE:
A funeral service for Jeffrey R. Nelson, 65, of Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, was held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiated and several family members and friends shared personal reflections.
Interment was at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wheaton, Chippewa County. Military honors were conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council and Thomas Eder Jr. bugled "Taps."
