Jerome P. "Lefty" Lee, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Chippewa Manor.
He was born July 1, 1928 in Strum to Lillie (Olson) and Palmer Lee. He grew up in Strum and moved to Chippewa falls in 1940 graduating from Chi Hi with his wife-to-be, Marilyn, in 1946.
Following high school, Lefty was employed at Presto before going to work at Thompson Oil in Chippewa Falls. By 1960 he had purchased the business, changing the name to Lee's Fuel in 1965. At the age of 72 he retired and sold the business to his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Larry Wiltrout.
When he wasn't working, Lefty enjoyed camping, hunting, woodworking, and old cars. After several years of camping with the family at Lake Holcombe, they purchased lakefront property. Piece by piece Lefty, Marilyn and the kids swung hammers, painted walls, and built a cottage in Holcombe that the family enjoys today. Each fall Lefty and friends spent a week hunting at the "Jump River Owls Club." In the evenings they would dance with one another at Jump River Rosie's. The good times enjoyed by Lefty found him surrounded by a wide circle of family, friends, and acquaintances that made for a life lived to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Chippewa Falls; children, Dan (Susan) of Reno, NV, Mary (Larry) Wiltrout of Chippewa Falls, Tom (Helen) Lee of Lancaster, CA, Terri (Jim) Nyman of Black River Falls, Steve (Cindy) Lee of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Ima Lee of Blair; a brother, Julius "Pinky" (Jackie) Lee of Lake Holcombe; grandchildren, Tracy (Josh) Davis, Jerome (Tori) Lee, Ryan (Tracy) Wiltrout, Jessica (Jon) Joles, Jameson (Kelly) Wiltrout, Torrey Nyman, Andrew (Laura) Nyman, Steven (Shelly) Nyman, Benjamin and Michael Lee; great-grandchildren, Emmett, Soren, Christopher, Kesinee, Kayla, Jaydin, Jerney, Joseph, Colton, Vincent, Tyler, Hope, Katelyn, Hannah, Ellianna, Hailey and Vanessa; and many nieces and nephews.
