He was born January 25, 1941 in Chippewa Falls to Nellie (Strong) and George Campbell. He attended schools in Chippewa Falls and following high school, enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably from 1963-1965.
Jerry married Sandra Walters on April 8, 1967 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. They have resided in the village of Lake Hallie since that time. He worked at National Presto Industries, Uniroyal and retired in 2010, due to ill health, from the Career Development Corporation as assistant supervisor.
He was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and held meetings at the Chippewa County Jail. He was a counseling facilitator at L.E. Phillips. He received training from Pat Sumner to become an alcohol and drug counselor at the Serenity House, and worked with her for many years. Jerry loved to spend time at his cottage in Chetek, where he enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and being outdoors.
