Joan Janice Fleming, 83, of Chippewa Falls, died unexpectedly at Dove Healthcare - Wissota Health & Regional Vent Center, in Chippewa Falls on Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Joan was born to Jens and Josie (Peterson) Johnson in Eau Claire on August 19, 1932. She married Harry Keith Fleming on October 12, 1953, in Stillwater, MN. They lived in Eau Claire where she worked at Presto, Walgreens, Uniroyal and Kmart. Shortly after Harry's retirement, they moved to Chippewa Falls in 1990. They were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Joan and Harry enjoyed their time at the cottage at Axhandle Lake. Dining out with her friends was very important to Joan. She also enjoyed her trips to the Turtle Lake Casino with her friends.

Joan is survived by her son, Hugh (Lora) Fleming of Onalaska, WI; three grandchildren, Jason Daniel (Dan Hardy) Bennett of Chippewa Falls, Rachel Joan Fleming of La Crosse and Keith James Fleming of Holmen, WI; sister, Doris Hager of Altoona; nephews, Paul Boettcher and James Hager; niece, Linda (Tom) Vernau; and brother-in-law, Howard Boettcher of Eau Claire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry in 2005; nephew, Daniel Boettcher; brother-in-law, Laverne Hager; and sister-in-law, Yvonne Boettcher.

A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ned Lenhart will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
