JoAnn E. Bergeron, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire.
She was born September 3, 1927 in Milwaukee to Sadie (Noggle) and Julius Johnson. When JoAnn was just six years old, her father passed away. She and her mother then moved to Chippewa Falls where JoAnn attended Chippewa area schools.
On March 18, 1944, she married James W. Bergeron in Chippewa Falls. They resided in the Eagleton/Popple Lake area, where JoAnn was employed at the Fall Dairy and Jim Falls Grade School as a lunch supervisor. She also was a self-employed truck driver with her husband, James for Bergeron Trucking, which later proudly became JoAnn's Trucking. As a truck driver, her handle was "Diesel Dumpling" and James' was "Pea Soup."
She is survived by her husband of almost 73 years, James of Chippewa Falls; two daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Brost of Ladysmith, Jane Ellen Roshell of Chippewa Falls; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six children, David and Dennis Bergeron in infancy, Steven Bergeron, Mary "Kay" Frederick, Nancy McIrvin, and James "Jimbo" Bergeron; three sisters, Gloria Anderson, Betty Parsons, Carol Dzibinski; and a brother, Julius Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 16 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
