John “Jack” R. Tepp, 79, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at The WI Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, under the care of Moments Hospice, on Friday, September 15, 2023.
On March 6, 1944, Jack was born to Robert and Bernice (Henneman) Tepp in Chippewa Falls, WI. Jack served his country with the US Navy from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1969. He was a storekeeper on the USS Yellowstone AD-27 in Vietnam. He was proud to be a veteran.
Jack graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1963. He then went on to tech school and got a degree in accounting. He worked at Presto and finished his employment driving an armored truck. Jack enjoyed playing basketball, poker and going fishing with his high school friends and beyond. Jack enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, old western movies and listening to old country music. He was a daily Sunday driver, never in a hurry. He spent time with friends at the 5 O’Clock Club in Eau Claire and at O’Neil Creek Campground in Chippewa Falls.
Jack was very kind-hearted and friendly. He was always willing to help other people when he could. He was a great listener. He was a wonderful father and brother. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
Jack is survived by his, daughter, Amanda (Ted) Lightfield of Burlington, WI; grandson, Teddy Lightfield; sister, Karen Sengstock of Las Vegas; brother, Bill (Patsy) Tepp of Chippewa Falls; nephew, Craig Sengstock; nieces, Kia Sengstock, Ann Arndt and Arin Tepp; stepdaughters, Kathy Cook, Sally Scott, Amy Woodford, and Jody Woodford; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Jim Sengstock.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, at Christ Lutheran Church, 467 E. Colome St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Gregory D. Stenzel will be officiating. The interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a Veterans Organization of the donor’s choice.
