John Kajer

John “Joe” H. Kajer, 76, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully with is family by his side at the Chippewa Manor on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

John was born on November 30, 1940 to Edward and Josephine (Svec) Kajer in Chicago, IL. He served his country with the U.S. Army on the Honor Guard in Korea from 1964 to 1966, receiving his Honorable Discharge. John was united in marriage to Teresa Storlie on January 31, 1969 in Waukon, IA. He worked at Pope and Talbot Paper Mill for 35 years, retiring in 2001.

John was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. John was a huge sports fan, following the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, White Sox, Bears and Bulls. He was a fan of Walter Payton and Michael Jordan. He was a long time member of the Eagles Club of Lake Hallie, serving on the Board of Trustees. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be missed by all.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Teresa; daughter, Erica (Mark) Larson of Chippewa Falls; son, Joseph (Bridget) Kajer of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Andrea Freid, Josephine Kajer, Mason Kajer and Riley Freid; sister, Ruth Sawusch of Sun City, AZ; along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jill; and brother-in-law, Howard Sawusch.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Robert B. Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie, Chippewa County, WI, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, also one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the chapel.
