He was born October 13, 1927 in Hawkins, Wis. to Pauline (Hanson) and Olaf Leikvoll. He was raised in Hawkins and graduated from Hawkins High School. He entered the U.S. Merchant Marines in 1944 and then the U.S. Army, serving from Jan. 23, 1946 until being honorably discharged on July 22, 1947 as a Tech 4. He then attended U.W. River Falls for two years.
John married Pauline "Polly" Raschke on August 26, 1950 at St. Adelbert Catholic Church in Superior.
He was employed for Russell/Kemps/MeadowGold Creamery as a milk and ice cream truck driver for over 35 years, retiring in 1984. He and his wife moved to Chippewa Falls in 1987 and have resided here since that time. John and Polly enjoyed salmon fishing every fall for 35 years at the Cranberry River in Herbster. They were always kept busy and happy attending their grandchildren's sporting events.
