John Powers

Powers, John P., Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, age 75, died October 19, 2017, at home.

John was born in Denver, Colorado, to Harmelina Fregeau and James Powers. John is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Holleen) Powers; son, Shawn (Angie) Powers; daughter, Jennifer (Martin) Powers; and brother, James Powers. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Carole, Mary, and Patricia.

John had varied interests in life. In midlife he changed careers and worked for the United States Postal Service until retirement. He volunteered for the Red Cross and was a member of Toastmasters for a time. He relished giving a good talk and hearing the audience laugh at the jokes interspersed in his speeches. John appreciated spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed the lake country of Wisconsin and spent many hours boating, swimming, and fishing with his children. He will be missed by his family who enjoyed his antics and sense of humor.

John was fond of small animals especially the cats who lived with the family over the years. Memorials may be made to the Chippewa County Humane Association, P.O Box 562, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729-8103.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering in honor of John, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Hallie Golf Course from 1-4 p.m. with a prayer service at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Hoekstra, Chaplain, will officiate. Email for information:
