Joseph D. "Joe" Anderson, 78, of 21250 30th Ave., Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

He was born December 11, 1932 in Colfax, to Hulda Halvorson and was adopted by Esther K.(Hove) and Arthur Anderson. He attended grade school in Bloomer and graduated from Stanley High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Wright in the Atlantic Fleet from 1951-1955.

When Joe married Carol J. Popp on December 8, 1955 they resided in Stanley where Joe was employed by the O&N Lumber Company. In 1956 they moved to a farm north of Cadott. In 1961 they moved to Thorp and then to Chippewa Falls in 1962. Joe was then employed at the Northern Center for 34 years as a maintenance mechanic, retiring on January 5, 1996. He also worked part-time at Ace Hardware at Lake Wissota. He has resided in the town of Lafayette since 1992.

Joe loved the outdoors, riding his bicycle, nature photography, bow hunting and especially spending time with his family. Throughout his years, Joe was a very active member and volunteer in church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Cheryl (Al) Solberg of Elk Mound, Sandra (Steve Cordogan) Anderson-Cordogan of Geneva, Ill., Dorene Anderson of Schaumburg, Ill.; two sons, Terry (Felicia) Anderson of Oshkosh, David Anderson of Chicago; three sisters, Elaine (Kenneth) Klund of Eau Claire, Imogene (Rev. John) Reppe of Two Harbors, Minn., Joan (Donald) Peterson of Markesan, Wis.; a brother, Rev. Peter (Terryl) Anderson of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren, Jenny and Abigail Anderson, Ryan Geissler, Alexander and Stephan Cordogan; two great-grandchildren, Derek Teteak and Wyatt Anderson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his adoptive parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Wednesday, November 23 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Rick Hoyme officiating. Interment will be in Norton Cemetery, Colfax.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.

A funeral service for Joseph D. "Joe" Anderson, 78, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 23 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Rick Hoyme officiated and music was provided by Christine Hitt. Joe's brother-in-law, Rev. John Reppe of Two Harbors, Minn. gave the final commendation.

Casket bearers were: Joe's children, Cheryl Solberg, Sandra Anderson-Cordogan, Dorene, Terry and David Anderson; his grandchildren, Jenny and Abigail Anderson, Ryan Geissler, Alexander and Stephan Cordogan. Burial will be in the Norton Cemetery, Colfax.
