Josephine I. Stelter, 88, of Eau Claire, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.

She was born August 17, 1924 in the town of Wheaton to Naomi (Patterson) and Arthur Stewart. She was raised in the town of Wheaton and graduated from Eau Claire Sr. High School.

Josephine married Floyd Stelter on August 12, 1943 at First Presbyterian Church in Chippewa Falls. After their marriage they resided in Eau Claire until 1953, when they moved to the town of Howard where they farmed until 1957. They then moved to the town of Lafayette where they owned and operated Stelter Cabins. Floyd preceded her in death in 1991. She married Dale Riley on August 21, 1999. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2010

Josephine enjoyed gardening, canning and crafts of all kinds. Her faith was very important to her. She was a devoted church member and served in many capacities.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Austin of Sun City, AZ, Susan Stelter of Eau Claire, Darla Stelter Cripe of Eau Claire, Jill (Dan) Cripe of Eau Claire; three sons, Ronald (Evelyn) Stelter of Tavares, FL, Michael Stelter of Los Angeles, CA, Richard Stelter of Colfax; two sisters, Mary Pagenkopf of Elk Mound, Una LaVonne Burich of Chippewa Falls; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; her second husband, Dale Riley; three sisters, Ruth Soden, June Davey, Dorothy Schupsky; three brothers, Erwin Bud, Lewis and Arthur Tiede Stewart; and a grandson, David Cripe.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 2 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, August 1 and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.

AFTERSERVICE:

A funeral service for Josephine I. Stelter, 88, of Eau Claire, was held at 11a.m., Friday, August 2 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Josephines son Ron Stelter officiated. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Casket bearers were grandsons, Kevin Austin, Brian Stelter, Daniel, Nicholas and Alex Cripe, honorary casket bearers were Zachary Cripe and Keith Austin.
